W. PARS V R

17/86

4/6/86 Appeal

Order: It is sad that such a promising young man should find himself in these unhappy circumstances. However, the courts will always treat possession with intent to supply severely. The intent to corrupt others by supplying is the real mischief.

Added to this are three previous convictions for drug related offences.

With this background it is impossible for me to say that the sentence was either wrong in principle or manifestly excessive.

The appeal is dismissed.

Chief Justice.
